Ban Hammer

In a valley somewhere around the Machuca river, expats and few locals build fancy houses. 3 main condominiums try to be "communities".
In that process, trying to do things properly is often overlooked.

I will do my best to suggest solutions to problems that do exist. No politics, no feelings. I will take a look at issues that bother me and see how they could be improved.

I will also try to cover some topics I find interesting for kids. None of the surrounding schools teach any IT. No AI, no coding, no computer use. Some parents truly thing that "screens are evil".
I believe that it depends on what you put on the screen. Topics I might touch on is Meshtastic (or other mesh networks), networking, ALPR, face detection/recognition, home automation. From super simple topics, like weather-proofing a network box (Alegria - I am looking at you) to configuring the simples fail-over network. You know. For when the "hamsters eat the fiber", and it takes 5 days for ICE to come out into the boonies.

Some with code, some without. Some with prompts, some without. And some with just using a middleware (like Home Assistant or Frigate), while some might link to a Github repo with custom code.

And then, I might offend some people.
If your solution for an entrance for an entire community is to put a lock's key into a combination lock box .... You will probably get upset when I point out a more logical solution (wink-wink Alegria).

I will give an opinion, I will suggest a solution, and if you don't like it, come up with a different one and post it on your own site.

AI AI AI

I will be using AI here and there. No. I won't post 5 pages-long slop coming from ChatGPT.

I am running agentic workflows and I have dedicated, tuned research agents that help me. I do not go to a chat bot and blindly post slop coming out of it. I feel that at this time and age it's important to make this clear.

At one point in the future, I will be writing an article dedicated to AI, and how you can* reduce your environmental footprint* when using it.

About the ://web portion of the site

It's an experiment. I have a workflow that runs twice a day, looks at trends, conducts research and writes a summary about the topic.
It is for my own entertainment, it's an experimet and it might sometimes go crazy and post strange things.

Part of the workflow is using locally hosted LLMs and run on low-power machines. Some uses more resources. I try to avoid frontier models for this and try to be nice to the environment.

I can help building such workflows/automations as a service, but this one is just for my own entertainment. And yes. I actually read the summarized/rewritten/reshuffled articles and some of them are quite good.

Use of AI in communities

Well. I will get there. Eventually. For now, let's just say, that if you use AI in a community to make decisions, you should provide the input data, the prompt and the model used. I am looking at you "our chat is toxic so we have to moderate it" sentiment analysis. I promise. I will make time for that!
